Location: Oak View

Vineyard and Mountain Views

Right out the back gate is the prettiest section walking/biking/horse back riding trail that runs all the way from Ventura's beaches to downtown Ojai.

That's our view -- of the Ojai Valley's newest and finest winery, with Los Padres National Forest in the background.

Turn left out of the gate and walk about 20 minutes and you'll come across San Antonio Creek's best swimming hole, now a part of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy's San Antonio Creek Preserve.

Turn right and you can walk to fabulous views of the valley, as well as Little League fields.

Oak View: An Eclectic Little Town

A couple of years ago, the LA Times described Oak View as an up-and-coming, eclectic little community in the Ojai Valley. It's just a few minutes to the delightful small town sophistication of Ojai -- and only a few minutes to the beach and the growing funky elegance of Ventura. We are far enough inland that we see the sun every day through June (themarine inversion layer "June Gloom" burns off by noon if it rolls in overnight), and we average about 10 degrees cooler than Ojai.

The Oak View Park and Resource Center, complete with a Ventura County Libary branch, sports fields, Boys and Girls Club and other children's programming, as well as an array of community events, is only a half a block away. Lake Casitas offers camping and fishing just a few minutes away (behind the vineyards in the picture), and of course the rest of the Ojai Valley has a host of marvelous offerings from shopping and dining and spas to wilderness hiking.
